These carriages were often used with a trained dog, some were pulled by a goat, but those were less ornate and were used in more rural settings. The carriage the pic.s show would have been owned by a very well to do family and would have been a showey urban item for Sundays in the park etc. I think it dates from 1830 to 1850.
