It depends on what you want it to look like....I have not polished mine in almost 4 years, since I removed paint and polished it. I experimented in one spot with application of Turtle Wax, nothing on the rest. At first it was too bright, then nicely mellowed, now looking dingy. The Turtle Waxed area is no different from the rest. I have heard that regular light polishing with vinegar-dampened cloth is helpful in keeping it bright. I have not tried.
