ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

I have recently purchased a complete bedroom set of JB Sciver furniture and am interested in history of it. I got a headboard/footboard, vanity w/mirror & chair, dresser w/mirror, & a tall dresser. It looks veneered with oval shaped florals in center of all pieces. Dark wood outside and lite wood in the center with the design. It's in really good shape. Does have 'old/musty' kinda smell and a few squares missing in the edging/outline (??) Some veneer on one end of drawer starting to let go. How do I clean inside and out looks like it needs something, it seems like maybe a little cracking effect from maybe being dry has started???? Anyway, I want to be able to clean it up and of course preserve it as best as I can, but more than anything I want to be able to use it. Without the smell it is giving off at present. Any help would be appreciated. On dates, $$ worthiness and care. Thanking you in advance, nettie
