Kelly, if its cast iron it can't be welded,you'll have to use an epoxy formulated for metal repair (at Walmart etc.) If it is wroght iron then it should be welded check with a local auto body shop. If you aren't sure of the metal ,take the broken piece to any hardware or DIY store ,some one there will be able to tell you.P.S. If its light weight and somewhat grainy its cast if its hard and heaqvy its wrought .
