The people at Old English will tell you that their product should not be used repeatedly on the same location. As it says on the lable, it will leave the wood too oily to take a finish. Some items I have seen had Old English used on bare spots so often that later when refinished the new finish would shed in those areas. They also have no advice as to how to remove the excess oil from the wood. Just a word of caution, I know you don't indicate this level of use. I like to cover sctatches with Watco oil, it comes in many more colors, and the stain will polymerize into a perment addition to the wood, unlike Old English which will look dull and fadded in a short time.
