The table is mahogany veneer over gum wood (I think), made in 1915. The frame and legs are mahogany. The top is thick enough to handle 3/4" plywood plus 2 veneer thicknesses. I plan to use poplar for the edges. The only minor visual difference I can imagine will be the absence of a cross-banding veneer layer on the ends of the leaves.
This table is interesting in that it's 24x42 when closed. The top unfolds, like a card table, then telescopes open to receive the leaves. When fully open, it's over 100 inches. It can easily seat 10 people.
