Charlie,

How is the existing top made? Would it be practical to copy the constructon of the existing parts? Will leaves made the way you plan, match the thickness of the rest of the top?

I've grown less and less enamored of veneering over any kind of veneer core plywood over the years, because the surface is never very flat. A vacuum press with UF glue and good flat cauls helps, but I still prefer other methods and materials.

If you could tell us how the existing top is made, we could probably tell you how to match it.
