When installing the prewoven cane, for example, I suppose one is suppose to soak the cane in water? That is what I have done and it seemed to work in that I was able to get it tight and avoided breaking the cane when pressing into the spline groove. But, as one would expect due to water, it raised the grain in the cane and left me wondering if there is a better way that would avoid raising the cane grain? ideally, I would have liked to installed the cane tightly with the same smoothness it had when purchased. I am appreciating this help, Doyle
