Glazes

I am new at this and am seeking help on using NGR transparent dye stains, Star NU-Glazes,and Ronan Japan colors. I have a mahogany desk already stripped, and sanded.I will be using vinyl sealer and nitro cellouse lacquer.What would be the best (correct) steps to use these or any other ideas or tricks to do? I did a small flat top earlier and it came out very nice ,but it is lacking that some thing special look. can any body help. Tim
