You could try a "paint eraser" made from a 50/50 mix of Lacquer thinner and denatured alcohol.Try a least significant area with a small artist brush.Keep dipping the brush in the same mix. If it works you'll be able to "erase" one layer of paint.You may find a product called "plasti-Kote" scratch color Leveler P/n 3703. Its a 1 ounce glass bottlew for under $4.00 at auto parts and auto paint stores. It works the same way. The brush should be sable or natural hair not plastic bristle.
