Thanks a lot for your input! So far I have tested the hide glue and rabbit skin glue with no success. I have also tested a crackle varnish product that I managed to get my hands on and this does not work on the oil layed gold, but it works beautifully on acrylic gilding. I figure a proprietry product is the way to go. I cannot find the mowhawk product, do they have a website and is it available in Australia?
