We use whitting, as sold by gun shops, it's very pure and absorbent. Spread over the oil, soak with MEK, and cover with plastic wrap. When dry remove with a vacuum and repeat until you can sand and still not see the stain. Afterward use a penetrating oil stain to counter act the oil still in the wood, and finish with shellac and varnish.
