ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

My husband and I purchased an antique dresser for my daughter, but it came with this very strong mildew smell which we didn't notice until it was delivered and we opened the drawers. It was painted shabby chic white and it was supposed to have been already restored, so we didn't think to check the inside of the drawers before we purchased it. Someone told us to buy Kilz Sealer/Stainblocker which seals in odors and use it to paint the inside of the drawers as well as the interior of the dresser. Could you please give us any additional advice on how to handle this problem? The dresser is very pretty, but I can't stand the odor and obviously can't put my daughter's clothes in it or they'll come out smelling like mildew. Please help!
