This steamer trunk came over on a ship around early to mid 1800's. It has never been touched to be damaged or retstored. I do not want to ruin it's original "whatever". It has steel/tin straps, some wood, some tin?/ and what looks like alligator skin on certain parts on the outside. There is also leather carrying straps. Inside has leather open/close parts for the various compartments, along with paintings of women. Outside, on various places the letters "M M" are stamped in the steel hinges, and on the steel/tin straps.
Could use some help on what to at least clean this trunk with, and maybe restore it to its original look without loosing its "character".
