In response to your answer, where can I get the top replaced, what type of shop -- the local metal shop that would do the rechroming? What would I use to clean the brown spots--what type of cleaner and polish? Also, when I try to pull the table apart, the geared wheel gets caught in the track and won't open enough for me to pull up the built-in table leaf. Would the local metal shop be able to get it to work right? Thank you so far for your help. Getting this answered will get me going in the right direction.
