Well, I'll add my experience to the mystery. I own a small coffee table by Ferguson too. On bottom says FERGUSON (label). And #700x (this part partially handwritten and hard to read). It is very dark wood (not red) with violin type legs and little brass paw feet. The table top has a raised lip around it--so I am wondering if this is what you mean by piecrust table? You can tell I am totally new at this.
The table reminds me of furniture at my parents house. My father bought the furniture I am thinking of when he was a young man, which would have been in the 1930s or 40s. He purchased it at an estate sale so it was already older. Based on that, I think my table is early 1900s.
The info on this site is all I can find about Ferguson Bros. (The Ferguson Brothers Manufacturing Company made furniture in Hoboken, NJ from 1898 - 1953. They were family owned until being bought in 1953 by Sun-Glo Industries. At this time the company was moved west to Virginia.)
interesting :) thanx, n
