Repair Shellac Finish

My fiance's antique walnut dining table was damaged recently with glass cleaner. The shellac finish had cloudy spots. An attempt was made to spread the shellac with denatured alcohol but the some areas turned out to be white which told me that the finish was completely removed. I used this product called Howard Restore a finish and it started to look better. I notice that there still was areas that had tiny white specs in some of the wood. Should I now try using a small portion of alcohol base stain or can I use a Danish oil which I am not sure is the right thing to do before trying to put a colored finishing wax?
