Well I wonder what kind of spots you have, if they are white from water or are they dark, from an oil stain. But as for the dent, that can be removed with steam from a low heat iron and a damp cotton cloth, which will lkely leave a white spot from water. Carefully heat the damp cloth and check underneath, little by little, use the tip and the dent should raise. I like to measure the depth at the start, with a caliper, to see how it is going. No caliper? No problem, make a simple depth gague with a tooth pick and a milk bottle cap, how you can tell how much effect you are having on the dent. Once the dent is out you will have a blush, or a white spot in the finish, the Woodworkers Store sells a spray can of Blush Remover. Or you can try wiping quickly with denatured alcohol on a lint free rag, only one wipe per three minute period, till gone. Now if the spots on the top are white you know what to do, if they are from another source, you may want to give us some more info for that. As for the rest of the finish I think we have had that question answered for some folks just a few entries eariler. Basically, clean with Naptha, light sand, scratch cover with a Watco Stain, recoat with Shellac and buff and wax.
