does this mix call for water? If so did you use distilled water? I think that a real mirror silver mix using chemically pure amonia, silver nitrate, nitric acid, potassium hydroxide, and stanis cloride would be best. (the exact formula is anothe matter, don't try this without serious training) But let's say you don't want all that, just polish the brass very fine with a high speed buffing wheel and jewelers rouge. Clean off any residue with naptha, wipe with acetone, and put the salt mixture back on. I think you need a high polish on the brass to get the effect you want, real silver needs a high polish to work also, at least that is my best thought.
