In Response To: marble stains (Terry)

Boy do you know how to bite off a lot or what? the stains can be easily removed by soaking with laundry bleach, or oxalic acid may work. But the depressions are pretty extreme to fix. You will have to rub them out the old fashioned way unless you have a marble shop that can put the pieces under the polisher. If not, start with distilled water a firm rubber sanding block and wet/dry sand paper, 400, 600, 800, 1000 grit, and finer if you can get it. Wet the stone and start working the surface down, get past the impressions befor going finer. Wipe clean rinse and then spend 30 minutes with each grit till you reach the finest grit paper. Take the finest paper and polish until the surface shines like a piece of glass, rinse completely. Now you can wax, buff, and gloat some cause you are done, and that only took half a year off your life.
