Hey jDuke, To date an antique - I personally would start with the style. What period do I think it's from. Then with that period in mind I would examine the construction, age, glues, finish, etc. to see if those things correlate to the age of the style. These are initial questions I ask myself. From there I look to determine how original everything appears and do the woods have the expected shrinkage, movement, wear, abrasions, that is noticable on a piece of that age,
