Most antique beds are too small to take a queen mattress. The existing rails can usually be modified to accept a queen mattress, but it is not something that the average amature is equipped to handle, you will probably need to take it to a pro and have them make the modification or make new bed rails. The sewing table should be fairly easy to convert with aboootam in the comparment where tha sewing maching goes you would have a large space for storage that could be closed with the original lid.
