Peter, The wax I prefer to use is Minwax. I have used it for years without a problem, in fact I find it better then anything else in the market place. It's always worked well so I stick with it. I'm not always sure that when manufacturers take something out of a product - it isn't for another reason like being compliant with the EPA. Minwax drys hard and polishes glossy - I've never noticed it to lift a finish. - In restoration there are always different circumstances to deal with. Certainly if you have incurred problems with toulene then take James S. advice - Bri Wax is a decent product
