In Response To: Re: Restoring the finish on antique table (Jim Cole)

I just received my grandmothers drop-leaf, gate-legged table. It has a dark (almost black) finish. The legs and edges still have a smooth, shiny surface...however the top of the table is "crackled", rough and dull. Can I do anything to "restore" the top of the table or should I leave it alone! Thanks for any information!
