Hey Peter, James S. gave you instruction for coloring the wood. It's good advise and won't hurt the value. Naptha is good for cleaning but it will dry fast. Turps will give you more time, Whatever you use - first try it in a place that doesn't show to determine if there are any problems using a solvent for cleaning. I'm not sure why the wax has to be non-tolulene, please advise.
