Longcase clock glue

I have a British oak & mahogany longcase clock c1770. The clock has been in the family for many years and was, until recently, in the UK. I now have the clock in Australia where the climate is hot and humid for most of the year. I recently had the case restored but I have now noticed that what appears to be old animal glue is starting to drip from behind the internal strengthening blocks. The glue is thick and black like treacle and smells fishy. I am concerned that the glue will eventually fail although the blocks seem solid for the moment. Any suggestions on how I can protect the clock from heat and humidity? Maybe a generous coat of beeswax on the internal surfaces?

Geoff.
