The simplest way to get rid of insects in wood it to freeze them, but I think maybe you have run out of 10 degree weather where you are, even if it's Alaska. Just for the record that requires three trips into the freezer and a week outside each time to trick the eggs into hatching, ie. powder post beetles. Most of these pests should croak if you cover the works with a taped up visquene wrap, or a closed garage, and then toss in a couple of bug bombs, seal and wait for about 50 hours. Some Boracare can be injected into any holes that will get rid of the buggers as well. Visit bugspray.com for all the details. And don't kid around, these guys can wreck a house for good!
