Stripped chairs still have alot of stain in them

I have some nice old chairs that I've stripped. Now that the paint is gone the chairs are stained. One of the chairs stripped down very nice and is a beautiful color. The other chairs have varing degrees of what looks like stain on them. This may be what was used in the orginal finish I'm not sure. What is a good way to even up all the chairs?
