Hi Kathy--I had old leather seats that were paint spattered and i took fine steel wool dipped in circa 1850 paint stripper and it cleaned them nicely. I put on a paste wax after that. They lost a bit of the original black tone but came up looking nicely mellow. If you try this and alot of colour comes out of the leather--you can re-dye it using specialty shoe dye from a shoe repair place.
