I presume that you are trying to remove the leather without damaging the finish surrounding them. Sometimes you can pull the leather up just apply steady pressure and see if it will release then scrape the area under it to clean up any residue. If it is put down with contact cement lacquer thinner will release it, but will also damage the surrounding finish unless done very carefully. Replacemnt leather is best installed with premixed vinyl walllpaper paste. It has plenty of open time so the leather can be repositioned if need be and forms an excellent bond.
