Lemon Oil and a soft cotton cloth will work for most cleaning. A little mild dish soap in some cool water, spot clean and quickly towel dry, followed by naptha or the lemon oil polish will do for dirty objects. A Naptha (mineral spirits) is a good all around finish cleaner and is the same as the lemon oil only dosen't smell as nice. If a build up of dingy furniture polish is present, then 0000 steel wool and naptha used in the direction of the grain and followed with a paste wax is a good idea. Keep removing the loosened film with a seperate cloth, so as not to return any of the dirt and old wax back to the surface. When the area is clean the wipe will appear fairly clean, and the surface should squeek under your wetted finger tips. Buff away any remaining film and wax with a toluene free paste wax, working in small patches, buffing and over lapping with the, last as you go.
