Follow up to Help! I ruined my antique table

Greg, I did what you suggested and put mineral spirits on the table and then used steel wood to rub in a circular motion and then pulled it with the grain of the wood. It seems to be working. It looks a lot better. In some areas there is a white-ish film that looks like the way a car looks after you wax. The rest of the table looks better. It still has some faded swirls in it but they seem much diminished in appearance. The table is somewhat passable now whereas before it just looked awful. Two questions: Should I do it again? Will it continue to improve the appearance or can I go too far and it will start to ruin the wood itself? How do I get it to look polished again? The wood is lovely - dark. If you stand directly above the table where you can't see the messed up finish, the table is gorgeous. From the side with the light reflecting, you can see the flawed finish. I really can't refinish the table. I have a 3 year old daughter, a bird and a small house with no place to do the work. I think I am going to have to settle for the results I get just doing this. But how do I put the shine back on once I am happy with the removal? Thank you so much!!!
