I would bet that the wood is Poplar. There are very few woods that exhibit this greenish coloring (sometimes stripes of purple and brown as well..) and it was very commonly used in furniture of that era...there were machine cut dovetails that were a traditional dovetail when viewed from the top, but they were rounded on the back, and fit into a corresponding half round cut out on the joining board. There were also Crescent type pins...not too sure which you're describing but either should just fit right back together with a tap from a mallet or clamps... As far as putting it back together...it basically only fits one way...like a puzzle. You'll have to match up all the pieces that make up each drawer, as they are usually graduated from top to bottom.....and the drawer slides very often had a guide strip attached to them to guide the drawers in and out....you'll need to remove any crumbling or loose glue and re-apply glue to the joints,(probably Liquid Hide glue with a small paint brush) reassemble and wipe off any squeeze out with a damp cloth and clamp if necessary...and of course check for squareness BEFORE the glue dries...
