Hi Carol. so many things affect value that it's hard to give you an idea of what it's worth. Most good blocks are indeed hard maple end grain up. My guess is that a block like yours weighs about 3-400lbs. I would price a comparable new block and use that as a guide taking into consideration age, condition, quality of construction, etc....this company sells some serious Blocks, although pricing does not seem to be on the website...http://www.mapleblock.com/detail/monarch-meat-block-16/ A phone call will probably give you pricing guidelines....sorry I can't help more...but these are an odd commodity when they come up for sale, sometimes prized as a furnishing for a home, sometimes put into service as a tool.....pricing is all over the place, perhaps a call to a local restaraunt supply house might also be useful?
