Real Tung Oil will not give you the level of protection that oil base varnish can, being water proof as it is. Pure tung oil will need to be re-applied fairly often as it will become dull looking. It is likely you have a variation of pure tung oil and can do a search on line for the ingredients by asking google for the MSDS and then the product name, this will give you a list of the contents. Many of these tung oil products now have linseed oil and drying agents added to them to make them easier to use and this will also allow you to put a future finish uve the oil. The Mfg. of pure tung oil does not suggest that it will hold a finish ans is hard to remove since it soaks deep into the wood.
