I also have a second question. I rented my house out for four years and am now reoccupying it. The kitchen cabinets are 6 years old, light maple, with a satiny finish. There is some water damage on the doors below the sink area. Not extreme--basically fine white streaks that are rough to the touch. Can I apply hand rubbed wax to stem the damage and provide further protection? Or should the doors be removed and refinished? It is less of a cosmetic issue and more of a protection one.
There is similar damage on some veneer shelves and the area around the waste bin, which is also veneer.
