Meilink Safe Patented 1912 (Care? Value?)

My fiance just purchased a house. A safe was left. It was made by Meilink out of Toledo. It says Patented 1912. I have what I believe is the current combination, but I'm afraid to try it. :) (It is currently open.) Right now it is down in the basement. I know nothing about old safes and was wondering if they are worth anything, and also how to care for it. I'm sure being in the basement isn't good, but it is pretty dry down there for a basement. I am afraid to move it upstairs because of the weight. (Bad for the floor?) And I really just don't want to move it, lol. It's probably about 3-4' high and on wheels. I would be interested in selling it, maybe, but it's kind of neat.
