Ordinary strippers should be fine to remove the finish from veneer. You should not use water base or water wash stripper. Strip the veneered parts as quickly as the finih softens and you should have no problems. I like to make all repairs before stripping If gives them a chance to pick up color from the stripping process which gives you a start on making them look like they belong to the piece. If the drawer fronts are veneered chances are that the top is also and the side panels may be too, so check for that before you start stripping.
