I have a beveled mirror that has most of the mercury missing. A friend told me that I could strip the mercury and simply have a replacement mirror cut to fit behind the beveled glass. This will give the appearance of a beveled mirror. My problem is there are a few stubborn spots of mercury that won't come off. I've tried a razor blade, chemical stripper etc. to no avail. Anyone trying this should know that mercury is a heavy metal and toxic! Wear heavy gloves and dispose of the mercury sludge appropriately!! Thanks, I hope you can help.
