The chair has been hiding in the basement for the past 30 years. It's time to decide whether to keep it or sell it. It's in excellent condition - except for the finish. Whether at the time it was built or later, someone has coated it with what was probably a clear 'sealer' (it's now rather murky looking). This coating has peeled/flaked off in most places, but is still evident. Also, one of the leg joins (railing) is coming loose - I can see about a 1/4" of the peg that fits into the ball of the leg.

Any suggestions about removing the finish and re-fitting the peg, greatly appreciated - thanks.
