My mother has a trunk we estimate to be about 100 years old. It has a fabric lined interior. The exterior is in overall good condition except for discoloration especially on the top and sides (at the bottom). It consists mostly of wood covered by fabric. There is some type of coating over the fabric to protect it. There is also wood trim and metal (or assumed to be metal) corners and edges.
Any ideas on how to touch up the fabric area so it is more uniform without damaging it?
Also -- she would like to have flowers and greenery "painted" on the wood slats of the trunk. Will this seriously harm the value of the trunk?
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.
