In Response To: difference between grime and patina (julia dashwood)

Julia, Patina, as best described,is a natural mellowing or darkening of wood finish that builds up over the years. On metal it would be a transparent light brown color. Both of these examples would be interpreted by an expert to further qualify an object as to age. On your cabinet, construction and design or detailing would confirm its age. It is a readily easy period piece. AS such , and if it were mine, I'd use the cleaner to get it as perfect as possible.
