In Response To: removal of glass/crystal 20's door knobs (EJ)

The best way to remove old door handle/lock sets is to remove all of it. Its not as hard to do as it sounds. First find a set screw that is in the thin part of both handles.Unscrew the screw from only one side ( either side).Put the set screw in an empty small plastic container that has a snap on lid. Then unscrew the door knob (with set screw out). It is screwed onto a square but threaded shaft ( the set screw is a locking devise to tighten the door nob at the desired spot for the handle to be tight but turnable. Once the handle is off one end you can pull the other handle out still attached to the square shaft. Now unscrew the plates on both sides .Put the screws in the plastic container. Now unscrew the 2 screws that mount the lock in the door, on the thin edge of the door.Using a screw driver or the metal shaft to help wiggle ( through the shaft opening in the lock), the lock out of the door. Now place the plates on both sides of the lock, put the metal shaft with a handle attached through the three items and screw the remaining door nob back on to the metal shaft and screw its set screw back in to its place. At this point (except for plate mounting screws) the LOck door set is all together . Repeat all steps on each door lock set. Hope this helps.
