I have the opportunity to purchase a White Treadle sewing machine. It was built in 1911. It has instruction booklet, and accessories. The case is oak, and in excellent condition. The machine has been removed from the case, but is also in excellent shape. Seller is not original owner, and says it doesn't work - something to do with a missing screw that holds machine in case. How can I tell if it needs major or minor repairs? I really want a working machine. Probably will never sew with it, but you never know! She is asking $175. What do I look for in a good machine? Thanks for any advice in advance.
