We have done assorted restorations on Hitchcock items, but it all depends on what is offensive to the owner, and how much antiquity is involved. A black wax can be enough to make missing color look considerable better and on newer pieces we have used gloss black spray lacquer and pumice powder to blend the sheen into the old. As for the designs on the backs and elsewhere, I have only seen a stencil and spray technique used. We will offer to duplicate the design in that way, since no decals are available to my knowledge. An air brush will give you great results when tinted lacquer is employed.
