The process is a very complicated process of applying a metal plate, usually from silver. The method can be achieved by an armature but is very tricky and hazardous. I do this work and it will often fail and require a completely new attempt. Unless everything is done perfectly correctly in every way the mirror will not turn out right, My method requires about $50.00 worth of fresh chemically pure ingredients for one batch. I suggest that you search for a qualified professional close by and let them do the work. $35.00 per Sq. Ft. is fairly common for a recovering rate.
