Well if it's aluminum it won't hold a magnet, but if it's cast iron it won't be possible to change it's shape without cracking it, unless you get it red hot, not a good idea either. The mold must have sagged or it was not meant to be straight. Some grinding could be possible but I think you may have to custom fit it to the wall instead. BTW if the casting is aluminum be sure not to use a caustic soda stripper, the metal will start to break down.
