Good old duct tape. Best invention of the 20th century maybe! People have used in so many ways besides what it was designed to do. However great as it is, it has no place in furniture repair. I've seen people try to repair chair legs with it.......doen't work.

There is no really easy repair for a tambour, but you can easily find the parts to do it. Log on to www.vandykes.com. They specialise in retoration supplies, and in their on line catalog they have tambour cloth and glue. They also have the oak half round tambours. If yours is torn it might be best to just replace the whole cloth.
