Cleaning nickle restoring woodstove

I found a beautiful 'Lang' aprox 1910 kitchen woodstove in an old cabin on our property. I'm pretty sure the legs and surrounding metal is nickel. Any tips on cleaning? Would nickel rust though? Maybe nickel plated then? Also, How do I clean off all the cast iron. The Lang Co in Seattle offered me $500 for it but I know it is worth more than that. No chips in the enamel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if there is something I SHOULD'NT mess with ...let me know ...I'm planning to sell it ASAP. Thanks, Debra
