It looks like water stains, but it's rough to the touch. Almost like it ate the top layers of finish.

Just a little more background information...I discovered the situation on a day I was dusting the furniture. When I began removing the items on top of the dresser, I discovered the doile's were actually stuck to the dresser with the dried perfum. I used a little water to loosen the doile's, but I wiped the water off immediately.
